Artichoke and Truffle Crostini

These little crostini are the easiest yet and have come about with many thanks to Marilyn who told me how tasty Belazu Truffle and Artichoke Pesto was and gave me a jar. She was right - it is very delicious. If you have a jar in the cupboard you can throw a quick canapé together in 5 minutes max. Alternatively you could be even more organised and have some in the freezer - yes they freeze as well. Perfect. Ingredients 1 small baguette Belazu Truffle and Artichoke Pesto (stocked by Waitrose) Softened butter. Optional: Pine nuts, a couple of grams per crostini, chopped roughly Parsley, finely chopped Method Cut the baguette into slices. Spread each side of the baguette slices with butter.

Pea and Wasabi Dip

Whilst we are enjoying this wonderful weather lots of people seem to be seeing friends and family in their gardens for pre supper drinks. It is a great way to catch up with people and with a few make ahead canapés up your sleeve, it's easy peasy too (excuse the pun). This pea and wasabi dip is made in five minutes and if you happen to have wasabi paste in your fridge, it is pretty much another store cupboard recipe. Add more or less wasabi depending on taste. We like 2 teaspoons, which didn't blow your head off, but add more if you want the full sinus treatment. Chicken Yakitori

These Japanese chicken skewers are totally irresistible. The delicious yakitori dip of soy, mirin, sake (or dry sherry) and brown sugar is also used to baste the chicken as it cooks and the results are mouth-wateringly good. Even better, the chicken is pre-cooked and cooled before being basted, so there is very little to do when you want to eat. Simply heat the yakitori skewers in a hot oven for a few minutes or even pop them on the bbq and they are ready to go.
